FOXTON
(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Aug. 22. The boys of tho local District High School held a road race yesterday afternoon, tho result boing:—K. Chrystall 1, S. Spring 2, C. Gates 3.
At tho Town Hall, on Tuesday evening, the annual hall of the Foxton Volunteer Firo Brigade was held. There was a good attendance, visitors being present from Palmerston North, Shannon, Levin, Otaki, and the surrounding district. A combined rally of members of tho Shannon, Levin, Tokomaru, and Jvoputaroa Biblo classes was field in Foxton. The visitors, together with tho local Biblo class members, attended a church servico in the Anglican Church, conducted by the Rev. Air Davies, of Levin, and Rev. H. S. Kenney, of Foxton. At the conclusion all present adjourned to the Afasonic Hall where tho Foxton Bible class entertained tho visitors at a social evening. At a combined meeting of All Saints' Ladies’ Guild and the vestry it was resolved to hold the annual fair in tho Town Hall on November 8. Preliminary arrangements were discussed and an entertaining programme arranged. Mr K. Martin, of the Foxton P. and T. staff, left to-day to take up his duties at Porongahau. The electoral roll for Alanawatu has been printed. It contains 7984 names art compared with 8270 on tho main roll in 1931, a decrease of 286.
