A kitchen tea arranged by the friends of Miss Phyllis Fagan, in honour of her approaching marriage to Mr W. F. Jordan was held at the residence of Mr and Airs A. K. Drew, “Brooklynne,” Sanson. A largo number of friends wero present and a happy ovening was spent in dancing, competitions, and community singing. Items were given by Misses b. Anderson and Nellie Masters, Airs J. S. Tricker and Air H. V. B.ond. Before partaking of supper Mr A. K. Drew, on behalf of those present, asked Aliss Fagan to accept the | numerous gifts and thanked her for the j assistance she had always given to the community. He concluded by wishing her tho best of luck in iicr future life. Air 11. J. Fagan, father of the guest of honour, thanked those present on her behalf for the numerous and useful gifts. G. Osborne, C. Palmer, W. Drew, G. Grace, and J. Burr. The monthly meeting of the management committee of the To Kawau Rugby SubUnion was held on Tuesday evening when Air A. N. Morsom presided. The following membors were present:—Messrs J. 11. Smith, C. E. Eglinton, FI. FI. Simmonds, J. O. Cameron, W. A. Davidson, and the secretary (Air F. W. Tostevin). Before tho commencement of tho business, the president (Air Morcom) made reference to tho death of Alessrs L. Aloflatt, R. Boswell, and Ali-s T. Richardson. He little thought at the last meeting of the union when proposing a vote of sympathy with tho relatives of the late Air J. F. AlcKelvie that it would be his sad duty to mention these deaths. No ono could realise the actual loss the union had suffered in tho death of Air L. Moffat.t. lie was always a draw to To Kawau football and no one had been discussed more in connection with Rugby. lie always played the game with a true sporting spirit., atid bis early demise was a great loss to Rugby football. In referring to the late Air Boswell, Air Alorcoin said that the union had lost a strong supporter and friend. He had always helped in every way possible and on many occasions lent his grounds for matches. In I the death of Airs T. Richardson the district ! had lost another of its pioneers and a keen Rugby supporter, said Air Morcom, I one of her sons being a sub-union referee. ;As a mark of respect members stood in i silence and the secretary was instructed to ; write to the relatives expressing the sub--1 union’s sympathy. A lengthy discussion arose out of the communication received from the New Zealand Rugby Union in connection with the remit lot-warded to that body. The New Zealand Union slated that their reply had been forwarded to tho Manawatu Union. It was decided that, n 1 the answer is not satisfactory a deputation consisting of the chairman, Afr C. Eglinton, Mr H. 11. Sinunonds and the secretary I should wait on the Manawatu Union in an endeavour to come to a more satisfactory , understanding. Tho secretary was in-: stmeted to convey a vote of thanks to Miss P. Fagan and Airs F. \V. Tostevin for making wreaths. The treasurer’s report stated that the union had a debit balance of ap- j proximatcly £lO. The question of a ball to
assist tlic union’s funds was discussed, it being decided to bold a ball if sufficient support is forthcoming. ’J be formation of a ladies' committee to deal with the supper arrangements was left in tbe bands of the delegates. Before tbe close of tbe meeting (lie president stated that this would be the last meeting of the sub-union for the year and l.c took tbe opportunity, of expressing bis thanks for the loyal support lie' bad received from members during tbe season. lie stated Hint lie regretted that this would be his Inst year us chairman ol I the management committee as lie felt be t could not accept nomination at- the next annual meeting. Several members voiced their appreciation of tbe good work Mr Moronu had done for Rugby in tbe Te Ka.vau Sub-union.
