KAIRANGA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, Aug. 20. The local hall was very nicely decorated with greenery and streamers for the third birthday ot tho Kairanga Women’s Institute, _ which was celebrated last week by a social and dance. Some 409 people were present, among the visitors being members of the Awalntri, Bunnythorpc, Kopano, Wbakarongo, Milfoil and Newbury Institutes. 'The president (Mrs P. Lcarny) welcomed all present. Members of visiting institutes extended good wishes to the Kairanga Institute. A professional orchestra supplied the music for tho danec. Mr J. Waller was M.C. A lucky Gay Gordons was won by Miss Voss and Mr T. McKenzie. Items were contributed by the following: Dances, Joyce and Betty Waller; songs, Misses Z. Loamy and F. Doherty; recitations, Miss Whittaker; mu-deal item. Mr A. Baker. A playettc entitled “A Little Bit of Life” was staged by members of tlio institute and was much appreciated by all present. 'The players were: .Mrs Smith (Miss 0. Green); Fred Smith (Mr F. Cummins),. Miss Hopkins (Miss D. Lapp), Mrs Xaggs (Mrs J. Burmeister). After all present had partaken of a sit-down supper, the beautifully iced birthday cake was cut on the stage by the president and handed round after Mrs Small, as tho oldest, member, had lit the candles and Mi.-s C.
