(From Our Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTHORPE, Aug. 20. 'The annual meeting of the British anil Foreign Bible Society was held in the Methodist Sunday School room on Friday, when Rev David Calder, 8.A., of Wellington, addressed the meeting. Rev. 11. B. Goertz welcomed the speaker on behalf of the local branch. .'The address was on the development of tho Bible from Gatin to the translation in English, and other languages. The interest shown throughout England when the Bible was translated could ho judged by tho thousands and thousands of copies sold and tho lifting of the restrictions which were placed upon it, the speaker said. A committee had been formed and. upon hearing of little Marv Jones anil her eagerness for the Bible, "the Book was speedily translated into Welsh, ami Gaelic, and then made its way to foreign countries. Now it was translated into 692 languages. Mr Calder also spoke of tho amount of money for translation purposes and of tHo success in the sum raised last year. Officers elected wore: —President, Mrs Seheidt; vice-presi-dents, Mrs N. Grecnhow, Mr Goertz and Rev. O. A. Foston; secretary. Miss E. M. Purnell. 'The ladies then served afternoon tea, and a very enjoyable afternoon was brought to n close.
