LONDON WOOL SALES.
MARKET FIRM. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have received cablo advice from their London house, reading as follow: —Tho wool sales hontinue before an average attendance of buyers, among whom competition is animated. Continental and Bradford buyers are the chief operators, and the market is firm. An average selection of wool is offering;. We quote the following average realisations;—Groasy Merino, 60-64, yielding 48 per cent., ll|d. Fine half-bred, 56-58, yielding 64 per cent., llid. Halfbred, 50-56, yielding 68 per cent., lOd. Three-quarter bred, 48-50, yielding 74 per cent., 83d. Greasy fine crossbred, 46-48, yjulding 75 per cent., 7Jd; medium, 44-46, yielding 75 per cent., 7jd; crossbred, 40-44, yielding 76 per cent., 6jd; greasy coarse ciossbred, 36-40, yielding 74 per cent.. 61d; crossbred lambs, 46-50, yielding 74 per cent., Bid. Australian Merinos aro 5 per cent, lower.
A BRIGHTER OUTLOOK. The acting-president of the Graziers’ Association of New South Wales (Mr J. P. Abbott), referring to tho London sales, said they appeared to reflect the rise in tho wool market in Australia since tho last London sales. London, he added, socined now to be on a parity with Australian prices. Sir Frederick Tout snid it would bo pleasing to those associated witli the pastoral industry, not only to see the improvement in the price for wool, but also tho keen demand. No less gratifying was the fact that practically all Australian wool had boen realised, and that next season’s clip would bo practically free from any carry over. “Tho statistical position of wool,” ho added, “appears good, and pastoralists generally are looking forward with a certain amount of confidence to a reasonable return in the coming year.” BRADFORD TOPS MARKET. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have received cable advice from their Bradford agents as follows:—Merino tops are steady. Fine crossbred tops are id up, and other crossbred tops aro firm. Where business is in prospect, toomakers are inclined to make concessions in Merino tops.
