FEILDING STOCK SALE.

EWE HOGGETS IN DEMAND. FAT COWS IMPROVE. What was classed as a remarkable do maud took place for ewe hoggets at tho h eliding sale yesterday, extra good lines making up to 28s 7d. There was i\ lniuvy penning of both owe and wether hoggets and for the latter tho demand was also very strong, tho top price of 17s 8d being well above recent rates. Keen competition was again shown for the better class of brooding owes, a, considerable yarding .selling freely. Inferior and low conditioned sorts were inclined to hang lire a litllo, but tho clearance generally was very satisfactory.

Fat sheep of all classes wero easier in prices, lambs and wethers being from Is 6d to 2s per head down on recent sales. Ewes about held at late rates. Tho fat cattle yarding was practically 100 per cent, dairy breeds of cows, which made a good sale at slightly improved prices and the few head of ox beef available likewise found a ready market. Store cattle were firm at unchanged prices, a fow head of forward station cows coming in for fair attention. Although showing an improvement on last week’s prices, the dairy sale was still dull both for cows and heifers. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Dalgety and Coy., Ltd., report a good entry of sheep and an average entry of cattle at the Feilding sale yesterday. Fat sheep failed to maintain last week’s prices;

competition was not- over keen and many vendors were disappointed with their prices. In all sections of the store sheep there was a buoyant sale. Breeding owes of all descriptions sold at advanced prices and hoggets wore keenly competed for with a decided upward tendency, best owe hoggets making 28s 7d, tho highest recorded so far this season. An average entry of dairy heifers and a large entry of dairy cows continued to meet with a dull sale. There was a small entry of fat catile, which included few quality animals, but prices hardened. There was a good enquiry for store cattle, and all pens were sold under the hammer. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., report a medium entry at Feilding yesterday. Some very good quality breeding ewes were yarded. Three lines of good 4 and syr owes made 27s sd, 27s 6d, and 27s Bd. A line cf very good two-tootli wethers wore passed at 21s 6d. White face lambs mot with a keen demand. Generally prices for store sheep showed an advance of about Is per head. Fat lambs, according io quality 15s to 225; (at wethers, 20s to 23s 6d; fat ewes, 14s to 18s. A lino of 4 and syr bullocks made £6 ami £6 4s, a figure below tho owners’ reserves. There was a very small yarding of run cattle which did not meet with a ready demand. Dairy cows sold at better prices than last week, making from £4 to £7; heifers also met with a bettor demand. Fat cattle, dairy sorts, sold at late rates, £3 to £3 15s, boners also sold at lato rates. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report largo entries in all sections. The demand in the store sheep section was of a keen nature; reliable, owes r.w. S.D. rams remained firm at recent rates, whereas ewe and wether hoggets still advanced in value, this being particularly noticeable for any lines of owe hoggets submitted. Here we topped the market for a line of extra good ewe hoggets on account of Air J. Walkqr, of Colyton, the price realised being 28s 9d. Fat sheep: Values in this department showed very liltlo variation over the past few weeks, fat ewes of choice quality still being slow of calc, with very few wethors being penned. These were also difficult to quit at satisfactory prices to vendors. Cattle: A few pons of run cattle wero submitted and for these the demand wa3 sound, values showing no alteration on lust week’s rate*. Fat cattle of all classes sold freely with a marked rise in values in comparison with last week. Dairy cattle, both cows and heifers, unless close to profit and of good quality wore slow of sale. Boner cows of all grade* sold at values above recent rates.
