MILSON

(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, July 19. There was a large attendance' of members and visitors present at the Milson .Hall on Wednesday evening, when the Glee Club and folk dancing circles of the Women’s Institute held a successful social and dance in aid of their funds. The hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion and a professional musician supplied the music for dancing, while extras were contributed by Mrs Murphy. The duties of M.C.’s were carried out by Mrs Johnston and Mrs Munro. Interspersed with the dances, items were contributed bv Master D. Gilbert (song, “Mr Bear”), Miss Zoo Rabone (dances, “Mr Baggy Breeches” and “My Lady Free”), Miss Whittaker (elocutionary item, “The Servant Girl”), Mesdames Clapham, Jones and Alisa Clapman (members of the Drama Circle, playette), while members of the folk dancing circle contributed several folk dances, the items being well received and proving very popular. Supper was served and handed round by the ladies of the institute. Several novelty dances were held, the lucky spot winners being Miss Thompson and Airs Goile (Ohakune), while Air and Airs W. J. Child were, the winners of the Monte Carlo waltz. On Tuesday evening a team from the St. Patrick’s A division of the B grade table' tennis competition visited Milson for a match with the local team in the second round, the.visitors proving the victors by 21 games to 15. The individual scores were as follow*, ■ Alilson players being mentioned first:—W. Cater beat Aliss Whitehead .31 —20, Miss Sherriffs 31—16, IT. Lane 31—27, lost to F. Spelman 20—31, beat S.* Zaloum 31—25, P. E. Flood 31 24; P. Cater beat Aliss Whitehead 34 —32, Aliss Sherriffs 31—29, lost to Lane 26—31, beat Spelman 31—23, Zaloum 31 —25,’ Flood 31 27; J. Avison lcet to Aliss Whitehead 14— 31 beat Aliss Sherrills 31 —25, lost to Lano 25—31, Spelman 27—31, S .Zaloum 24—31 Flood 28—31; T. Hutchison lest to Miss Whitehead 13—31, Miss Sherriffs 29 31 Lane 26—31. Spelman 14 —31, Zaloum 12—31, Flood 19—31; H. Bridewoll lost to Miss Whitehead 17—31, Aliss Sherriffs 29 31, beat Lane 31—28, lost to Spelman 21— beat Zaloum 51—27, lost to Flood 28—31; W. Brown lost to Aliss Whitehead 22 31,’ beat Aliss Sherriffs 31—15, lost to Lane 25—31, Spelman 17—31, Zaloum 30— 32, beat Flood 31—29. At the conclusion of ’the games the visitors were entertained at supper by members of the local club.
