SHANNON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, Nov. 22. The annual meeting of the Shannon Volunteer Fire Brigade was held on Monday when tire following officers for the ensuing year were elected : Superintendent, Mr H. Murray; deputy-superintendent,. Mr H. V. Richards; senior foreman, Mr J. King; junior foreman, Mr W. Richards; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. S. Allan; auditor, Mr J. T. Boris. The credit balance in band is £2B 17s 9d, which is £3 9s lOd better than last year. It was resolved to purchase 200 feet of hose, also working coats and helmets. The firebell is to be replaced by a siren if a suitable one can be .obtained. During the year the brigade received two culls to fires. The Shannon branch of the Plunket Society has resolved to obtain a plan and specifications of suitable consulting rooms, together with prices, and if found within the society’s means,, to ask the Borough Council for permission to erect rooms on the borough section in Stout Street. A committee was set up to attend to details. The nurse’s report for October showed that four visits had been made fo Shannon, 16 visits to homes, 31 adults had visited the rooms, and 25 babies had been brought to the rooms.
