GREYHOUND RACING AT DANNEVIRKE.
The first real mechanical hare meeting for Dannevuko will take place on the A. and i’. Showgrounds on Wednesday, November 28. Grey hound enthusiasts of Danricvirke are working together as a committee in conjunction with tho A. and R. Association and have arranged for Mr John Hannan, of Wangaehu, to conduct an exhibition of greyhound racing in Dannevirke on this date. There will bo 14 thrill l mg . races, including two, steeplechases, and Mr Hannan lias tiro most up-to-dato plant in New Zealand, The mechanical apparatus which he has, permits the hares to travel round the centre of the course, thus providing a good vision of all dogs competing along the 440 yards course, which means that the hares and tho greyhounds will pass the .spectators twice. A largo number of greyhounds arc owned locally, and Mr Hannan is arranging for thoso to bo included in some of the events. ’ Amateur wrestling bouts will be staged throughout the afternoon. The greyhound ■ committee is also arranging for a ribbon parade of dogs, all breeds being eligible to compete, and a full schedule in connection with this is available on application. Dogs need not be registered with .tho Kennel Club if competing in this parade as the winners will not count against any dogs competing at registered shows. The judging of dogs will commence at 1.30 p.nt, and the grand parade of all entered will bo held at 3 p.m.
