WEDDING.
CAWOOD—OLIVER. The marriage was solemnised on Wednesday, November 14, of Eleanor May birth (Maisie), eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. V. Oliver, Fitzherbert Avenue, and Alfred George, only son of Mr and Mrs G. M. C. Cawood, Asliliurst. Canon G. Y. Woodward performed the ceremony and Mr J. Holmes Runnicles played appropriate organ music.
The wedding, which was held in the evening, was one of charming frocks. The bride was escorted by her father and wore magnolia chenille georgette, cut on slender lines, with a knee flare and skirt forming a train. A cowl neck, sleeves puffed to the wrist, and a belt finished with a diamante buckle were finishing details. A veil of embroidered, scalloped tulle with side posies of orange blossom, was worn well back from the head, satin shoes and a string of pearls being also worn. A shower bouquet of cream roses, trinum lilies and trailers of maidenhair fern, with satin streamers, completed an attractive toilette.
Miss Adeie Oliver, sister of the bride, and Miss Vera Hocking, of Palmerston North, attended as bridesmaids. They were attired in ■ sleeveless frocks of pink floral suede georgette, with high neck-lines finished with three frills, knee flares and belts with diamante buckles. Pink shoes to tone and picture hats of organdie were also worn, while both carried shower bouquets of pink roses, carnations and sweet peas, with trailers of maidenhair fern. The best man was Mr H. Childs, while Mr F. Oliver, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Masses of Iceland poppies and sweet peas decorated the lounge and main room at the Rosco tearooms, where the reception was held. Mrs Oliver received her guests numbering approximately 70, wearing a smart frock of red lace trimmed with brown fur, with beige straw hat, and musquash coat, her posy, in lemon tonings, being composed of irises, pansies and maidenhair fern, with a scarlet velvet ribbon. Mrs Cawood was attired in a brown tailored costume, with a beige hat. She carried a posy of roses, pink carnations and maidenhair fern, with pink ribbons. . The toast of the bride and bridegroom at the wedding breakfast was proposed by Mr T. Bradley, this being followed with musical honours. Other toasts in keeping with the occasion were honoured. Mr J. H. Worsfold was master of ceremonies. Among the guests were Mrs McNabb, sister of the bride, wearing a swagger suit of black and white check, with black hat; Mrs Seymour, sister of the bridegroom, navy and white crinkled crepe and white straw hat; Mrs McCall (Palmerston North), sister of the bridegroom, grey floral crinkled crepe and white hat; also Mesdames J. and F. Greer and Monk, cousins of' the bride. Mr and Mrs Cawood departed later in the evening on their honeymoon tour which comprised Taupo, Tauranga and Rotorua. The bride wore a swagger suit of red cavalry twill cloth with the skirt buttoned in front. _ A fawn crepe de chine s.hirt blouse, beige hat, gloves, handbag and shoes were also worn. The young couple received many beautiful gifts to grace their new home and several substantial cheques.
