FAREWELL PARTY. Mrs F. R. B. Chin, who intends leaving in the near future for Australia, where Mr Chin has preceded her, was met try & number of her friends at the Rosco tearooms yesterday, when the opportunity was taken to bid her farewell. The room was beautifully decorated with sweet peas of varying shades. Mrs A. E. Mansford presided, and said that it was with mixed feelings that they had assembled to say good-bye to one who, during her sojourn in Palmerston North, had endeared herself to all with whom she had come in contact. The wholehearted manner in which Mrs Chin had entered into the church and social life of the community made her departure a very real loss. Mrs Chin had those qualities of never-faliing cheerfulness and sympathy which meant so much in the making and keeping of friends. Mrs Chin must be pleased to be returning to her own land to join her husband, but the speaker trusted she would ever remember the friends she had made in Palmerston North. All wished Mrs Chin, her husband and family the best of happiness, health and prosperity. Mrs Mansford then called on Mrs T. R. Hodder to make a presentation to tho guest of honour. In asking Mrs Chin’s acceptance of a handsome handbag as a token of the esteem in which she is held by her friends, Mrs Hodder extended to Mrs Chin the very best wishes for the future. Musical honours were accorded the recipient, who feelingly expressed her thanks, stating that she would carry away with her many treasured memories.

Afternoon tea was served, and later Mrs Scotter conveyed greetings on behalf of the congregation of St. Paul’s Church, other speakers being Mrs Cameron, Miss Griffin and Miss J. Young, Miss Lorna Hodder also speaking on behalf of the younger members.

Mrs Chin wore a brown marocain ensemble with a brown hat, others present being Mesdames A. E. Mansford, V. Monrad, Laurenson, C. A. Small, Whitehead, S. Gibson, M. Millar, J. Miller, Gordon, Scotter and Miss Scotter, Mesdames Barnett, Hodder, Harris, H. and G. Bennett, Ongley, Major, Grigor. Cunninghame, Hadfield, Hornblow (2), Knight J. Murray, Dymmock, Dry, Jacques, Cameron, Rees, Misses G. Laurenson, Cunninghame, G. Whitehead, Griffin, Harris, Amos, Cameron, J. and J. E. Young, McLeavey and George. There were apologies for absence from Mesdames H. M. Phillips, Saunders, L. Collinson, Lees, Hancox, Collis, G. H. Bennett, Styles, McClelland O’Connor, Sinclair, Rowlands, Goodwin, Halse, Werry and Miss O’Connor,
