FATHER MARTINDALE.

A DISTINGUISHED PRIEST. The distinguished Jesuit priest and author, Father C. C. Mnrtindale, who arrived in Wellington by the Rangitane to-day, is a son of Sir Arthur Henry Temple Mnrtindale, K.C. He has gained academic distinction. He was educated at Harrow, Stonehurst and Campion Hill, Oxford, and entered the Roman Catholic Church in 1911. His subsequent activities, both as a preacher and as an author, have brought him into prominence. He was the founder of the Pax Romana Society, an international organisation of Catholic university students, and is president of the Federation of Catholic Societies in the Universities of Great Britain.

Impressions of New Zealand and Australia are contained in a book, “The Risen Sun,” written by Father Mnrtindale after his previous visit to the Dominion. When travelling from Arapuni to Auckland, with the late Bishop Cleary in 1928, Father Martindale was involved in a serious motor accident. He recovered in Auckland before continuing to Australia.
