SANDON, Nov. 5.
The opening game of the cricket season was played against High School at Kowhai Park, Feilding, on Saturday. Tho wicket was in good order and an enjoyable game ended in a draw. Sandon batted first and put on 188. High School had replied with 8 wickets for 125 when time was called. Bowling: White, l’ for 47; Mclndoe, 5 for 84; Crunij, 0 for 13; Mitchell, 0 for 32; Palmer, 2 for 2. High School- Huston, b Drew 28; White, c Sadler, b Reove 43; Hill, b Kent 6; Mclndoe, b Reeve 0; Mitchell c Andrew, b Reeve 1; Kempthorne, e Andrew, b Kent 10; Crump, b Reeve 4; Palmer, not out 12; Stewart, b Reeve 10; Jeffs, not out 1; extras, 10; total for 8 wickets, 125. Tho local Scout troop had a most interesting and enjoyable hike to the Rangitilcei River on Saturday. The boys cooked their own dinner in approved camp style and the novel experience was appreciated. The afternoon was spent with games and all arrived back at Sanson about 5 p.m. The hike was under the control of the scoutmaster (Rev. R. E. .Fordycc) and assistant scoutmaster (Denis Anderson). 1
