WEDDINGS.

OLSEN—PARATA. At St. Augustine’s Church, Petone, the marriage took place recently of Te Kahureremoa Hinehouiterangi Peti Parata, to Bertram Olsen, Eketaliuna. The bride is the only daughter of the late Mr Charles Parata, M.P., and Mrs R. Iv. Robertshaw, and granddaughter of the late Hon. Tame Parata, M.L.C. •HOFFMAN—PILGRIM. The wedding was celebrated at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral. Wellington, recently of Pauline Roles, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. J. Pilgrim, of Wellington, to Walter Hoffman, Vice-Consul for the United States of America in Wellington. The bride and bridegroom left by car for Auckland to join the Mariposa for a trip to the Great Barrier Reef. SOCIAL FUNCTIONS. A very enjoyable social and dance was held by the Public Service Girls’ Basketball Club last Friday evening in Miss Jean Scott’s studio. The committee comprised Misses Audrey Pees (sprigged organdie). Mavis Pirie (cherry lace and georgette) and Melva Wright (floral crepe and organdie). Songs by Miss Joyce O’Neill and eloeutionarv items by Misses Jean Spilmau and Billie Lake were enthusiastically received. Features of the evening were the most amusing games and competitions entered into with great spirit. Among those present were: —Misses J. Fnrland (rose beige crepe), Allison Pees (peach suede satin), C. Bennett (pink crinkle crepe), Billie Lake (petunia, windswept satin), J. O’Neill (checked organdie), A. Varcoe (apple green organdie), E. Varcoe (flame satin), J. Spilmau (midnight blue sand crepe), ,T. Findlay (gold windswept satin) and Messrs P. Smith. J. Delany,' ,T. Hands, L. Gorman. J. White, R. Frtoman, -T. Du.thie, M. O’Tveefe, G. Jenkins, W. Cottier, R. Weston. J. Comerford, .T. Bowler, and others. Dance music was kindly supplied by Mr A. J. Berryman.
