DE WET STILL A CHAMPION
SPRING SHOW PERFORMER
Though aged 23 or 24 years, the gallant little pony De Wet, a wellknown show-ring performer owned by Air H M. Blunden, of Kakanki, proved equal to winning the champion pony jump at the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association Soring Show yesterday afternoon from a strong field of thirteen compete AVet is now a veteran of the show-ring, in which he has figured for over twenty years. .He gave a beautiful display of fencing yesterday, his success being very popular. He lias a notable record. During the past six years without going any further back, he has won the champion pony jump at the Manawatu Show three times (including both Royal Show fixtures), has been second once, and third once. Twice he has won, in addition, the jumping competition for ponies (hunting style). More game than ever, this pony seems ageless and is just as sprightly and active as Another pony aged twenty years which figured prominently m the ring events at the Spring Show was Rajah, owned by Mr J. Goodwin, of Ohingaiti. He won the pimping competition for ponies (hunting style). Clinker, owned by Mrs H. Scales, of Whaliatiki, won both the Open wire jumping and champion open hunters competitions. The latter event carried with it the Rocket Cup, which this well-performed animal won last year.
