OROUA DOWNS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) OROTJA DOWNS, Nov 1. The closing of the Oroua Downs golf links was celebrated a few days ago the weather-being all that could be desired, while there were many visitors present from neighbouring clubs. Mr E. Conlan, president of the club, welcomed the visitors during the tea adjournment and called on Mrs Conlan to present the trophies which were won by the following: Long drive, Mr L Moffatt; approach, Mr H. Mabcy (Longburn); putting, Mr H. Mabey (Longburn); long drive, ladies, Miss Wanklyn (Foxton); approach, Miss Wanklyn (Foxton); putting, Miss AVanklyn (Foxton); Miss Oyster was runner-up in the putting. The two best rounds for the ladies and men during the day were returned by Miss Wanklyn and Mrs Moore (Foxton), equal, and Mr H. Mabey. Afternoon tea was served by the ladies at a suitable juncture, while the presentation of trophies brought the celebration to a close. The thanks of the club are due to Mr and Mrs A. T. Nichols, who have kindly placed their grounds at the disposal of the club throughout the year, the course being situated on their property.
