ADDINGTON SALE.

Per Press Association. . CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 31. to day s Addington market was a double one on account of no sale being held next Wednesday. The entries generally were larger, but prices showed little change. The store sheep entry comprised for the most part Chatham Island wethers which made up to 18s 9d. Best local wethers sold to 20s sd; ewe hoggets sold to 28s 3d, and wether hoggets to 22s lidewes and lambs, al counted, to 13s lOd! Six hundred spring lambs were forward. Values were 8d a lb.

I'at sheep.—Slightly over 6000 were penned, mostly _ shorn wethers. These were a shade easier, but ewes were slightly dearer. Extra prime heavy wethers sold to 25s 7d; prime heavy, 22s 6d to 24s 6d; prime medium-weight, 20s to 225; ordinary, 18s 6d to 19s 9d; light, 16s 9d to 18s; extra prime heavy ewes to 24s 7d; prime heavy, 19s to 21s 9d; mediumweight prime, 17s 6d to 18s 9d; ordinary, to 17s 3d; light and aged to lfas 6d. Fat catlc.—66o head were penned, including a big proportion of unfinished steers and old cows. Good beef was a shade easier, but inferior was down by 15s a head. Best beef made 28s to 30s per 1001 b; good, 25s 6d to 27s 6d; heavy, 23s to 265: secondary, 20s to. 22s 6d; and rough, down to 15s. Extra prime heavy steers made £l4 to £l6 10s; prime heavy, £ll to £l2 ss; mediumweight prime, £9 to £11; ordinary, £6 5s to £8 15s; light, to £6; extra prime heifers, to £9 17s 8d; prime, £6 10s to £8 10s; ordinary, £5 to £6 ss; light, to £4 15s; extra prime cows, to £9 17s 6d; prime, £6 to £7 15s; ordinary, £4 to £5 15s; light, to £3 15s. , Store catlc.—Station lines sold freely. Two and a half year Black Poll steers made to £5; 3 to 4-year Horefords, to £6 IJs 6d: 2j to 3-year Horefords. to £5 9s 6d, and young cows of good colours to £4 8s 6d.

Fat pigs had a large entry. Porkers were firmer, but baconors were easier. Choppers, 30s to £3 8s 6d; baconcrs, 46s 6d to £3 6s 6d; average price per lb, 5d to 5J,d; porkers, 33s to 43s 6d; average price per lb, to 6fd. JOHNSONVILLE SALE. Prices were easier at yesterday’s sale at Johnsonvillc. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., offered an average yarding. Heavyweight bullocks were unchanged in a keen sale, but medium-weight and lighter sorts were easier up to 10s per head. Runners sold at late rates. The sheep yarding comprised some heavyweight good quality wethers and ewes, with several pens of lighter weight sheep. Wethers w'ere not in demand, while ewes were easier to the extent of Is to Is 6d per head, and spring lambs showed a decline of up to Is per head. LEVIN SALE. The Levin stock sale conducted on Tuesday was, generally speaking, of a good standard, the prices received for pigs showing a recovery from last week’s easing. Good yardings were presented of cattle and pigs, with a medium offering of sheep. Following are the prices realised: —Pigs: Weaners, 11s, 12s, 15s; slips, 16s 6d, l7s 6d, 18s, 19s. 20s; stores, 21s, 22s 6d, 23s 6d, 245, 255, 26s 6d; light pork, 30s. 31s, 33s 6d, 34s 6d: medium, 355, 36s 6d, 38s, 40s; heavy, £2 2s, £2 4s, £2 Bs, £2 10s, £2 11s. Sheep: Fat ewes, 17s 6d, 19s, 225; prime, shorn, two-tooth, 235; fat woolly do., 245, 25s 3d. Cattle: Store cows, 15s, 17s 6d, 20s, 255: vealers, 255, 27s 6cl; medium fat cows, £2 12s, £2 14s, £3; heavier, £3 2s 6di £3 12s 6d, £4, £4 12s 6d; cows and calves, £3 16s. Dairy stock: Yearling Jersey heifers, 295. 325, 355, 40s; dairy cows, £2 7s 6d, £3; dairy bulls, £2 10s, £2 17s 6d, £3, £4 2s 6d, £4 10s, £4 12s 6d. STORTFORD LODGE SALE. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Oct. 31. With a short entry of 170 fat cattle at to-day’s sale at Stortford Lodge there was little change in the market, prices obtained being on a par with last week’s rates. Bullocks were in the majority, cows and heifers being in short supply. Bullocks, medium to prime, £7 12s to £8 2s 6d; others, from £6 2s 6d; cows, medium to prime, £4 16s to £5 6s; others, front £3 3s 6d. The entry of 350 store cattle met an easier market and values declined. Steers and bullocks made to £5 3s; heifers, to £3 10s. Fat sheep were unchanged on good sorts, older and lighter offerings being in less demand. Ewes, medium to prime, 19s to 21s 6d; others, from 15s 2d; wethers to 265; spring lambs, to 265. Store sheep made late rates, with a useful inquiry. Ewe hoggets, to 24s 9d; wether hoggets, to 23s 6d; wethers, to 21s 7d; ewes and lambs, all counted, to 15s. BUTTER AND CHEESE.
