WOODVILLE

AVOODVILLE, Oct. 31. At a meeting of the AVoodville A. and P. Show Committee Mr J. C. Bolton was in the chair. The AVellington branch of the New Zealand Friesian Association forwarded a donation of £1 Is. Mr M. Murray announced that the Jersey Breeders’ Club had decided to offer an additional £5 in prize money for the Jersey classes. Donations were acknowledged with thanks from several district and other people and firms. The secretary stated that Mr Houlihan, Palmerston North, had donated a cup for competition in the Jersey classes. C.R. Bro. S. Clark presided at the last meeting of the Foresters’ Lodge. P.C.lt. Bro. H. M. Smith reported having attended the Centenary grand smoke concert, held at Napier on Om tober 4, and responded oil behalf of Court AVoodville. It was resolved that the Christmas tree for the children be held as usual, and it was also decided to hold a dance on New Year’s Eve. The quarterly balance-sheet showed receipts totalling £2lB, and expenditure £159; of that amount approximately £65 was for sick pay, and £SO funeral claim. It was resolved that the Court pay Court Pahiatua a return visit in the near future. The 21st anniversary of its foundation will be celebrated by the United Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., on November 3. The company’s first factory—a cheese factory in McLean Street—was officially opened on November 4, 1913, Mr S. E. A\ ; orl>oys being chairman. On Saturday the celebrations will include a luncheon for suppliers, when appropriate toasts will be honoured, and a social and dance in the evening. The Bishop of AA 7 aiapu will spend the week-end at AVoodville as the guest of Mr and Mrs G. AV. Davidson. Mr G. Banks, who suffered from shock find bruises, as a result of an accident last week, has been discharged from hospital.
