LATE MR E. V. RIDDIFORD.
GENEROUS BEQUESTS MADE. Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Oct. 31. The estate of the late Mr Edward A’ivian Riddiford, of “Glenburn” and “Tablelands,” lias been sworn for probate purposes at under £600,000. Mr Riddiford, who was well known throughout the Dominion, both as a pastoralist and a racehorse owner and breeder, and as a citizen who played a prominent part in tlie social life of the community, died suddenly at sea on October 11. Ho was returning from a trip to England, accompanied by his wife and daughter, Miss P. Riddiford. aboard the liner Rangitiki. His will, which has just been made public by his solicitors, enhances his reputation for generosity. Besides numerous legacies to relatives and to employees, it includes the iollowing charitable bequests: AA 7 ellington Convalescent Home at Oriental Bay, £5000; A\ 7 ellington Diocesan Board of Trustees for the Anglican Boys’ Home at Lower Hutt, £1000; AA’anganui Collegiate School, £1000; Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees, for the benefit of St. Mary’s Home at Karori, £500; AVellington Diocesan Board of Trustees, for the benefit of St. Barnabas’ Babies’ Home at AA’adestown, £1000; AVellington Boys’ Institute and Sarali Ann Rhodes Home for Boys, £500; AA’ellington Club, £500; AA’ellington Golf Club, Heretaunga, £500; AVellington Diocesan Board of Trustees, for the benefit of the parish of St. James, Lower Hutt, £IOOO.
The balance of the estate goes to Mr Riddiford’s widow and his two daughters, Airs J. E. F. A’ogel, and Miss Pamela Riddiford.
