FOUR. DIFFERENT TYPES COMPARED Four widely-different types of aeroplane which Lave performed well in the Centenary air race are compared in the following- table, three of the machines mentioned, the de Havilland Comet and Rapide and the Miles Hawk, being- of British construction, and the Douglas, an American craft:—
In the case of the New Zealand Centenary Air Race Committee’s de Havilland Eapide, extra tanks have been fitted for the forthcoming 1 transtasman flig’ht, enabling l 240 gallons of petrol to be carried and increasing- the range to about 2000 miles. There are three in the.present crew.
