PRIVATE GUARDS.

BURGLAR BANDITS IN LONDON. A big private organisation of uniformed nightwatclimen is being formed to guard private property against burglars, bandits, fires and other dangers, states tlie London News-Chronicle. The company, which has a capital of £IOO,OOO, will be known as the Night Watch Patrol, Ltd. The patrols will be recruited from pensioned policemen and ex-servicemen, and will be officered by former Scotland Yard men.

They will operate the “beat” system. Each watchman will be equipped with an electric torch and a whistle, and will be accompanied by a police trained Alsatian dog. Government departments, banks, business houses, and private residents are being invited' to subscribe to the service, which eventually will embrace the whole country.
