Mr Forbes says that throughout his long association he lias always found Sir Apirana an upright and loya.l colleague, and in his Ministerial capacity as representative of the Maori race he has always had very closely, to his heart everything appertaining to their welfare.

Mr Forbes said how grateful he felt his fellow-members in Cabinet would be for Sir Apirana Ngata’s assurance that he would be glad to render all the /s----sistanoe he could as one of the Maori members of Parliament to the Government and the country to prevent any misunderstandings arising, and to make for the smooth administration of the Native Affairs Department. Mr Forbes said that, as he was himself assuming the offices rendered vacant by Sir Apirana Ngata’s resignation, he would indeed be glad to have Sir Apirana’s co-operation and advice at all times. He would miss him as a colleague and trusted their long personal friendship would last to the end of life.
