(From Our Own Correspondent.) CARNARVON, Nov. 1. On Friday, Mrs and Miss Goldfinch entertained a number of friends at_ a “bathroom” afternoon in honour of Miss Winnio Rose, whose marriage shortly takes placo. An enjoyable time was spent in competitions and tannis. iMss Rawi McKelvie was the wiifncr of a tree competition. After afternoon tea had been served, Mrs Goldfinch called on Miss Rose to open the parcels, which contained many useful gifts. Miss Rose returned thanks. Among those present were: Mesdamcs Goldfinch, Rose, Wilson Scott, Brercton, P. Scott, 11. Scott, McKolvie, J. Cameron, Bunno, Gibbons, Richardson, Davidson and B. Frecklirigton, Florenco and J. Giles; Misses A. Goldfinch N. Lyndsav, P. Duffy, B. Reeve, B. Aggett, R. McKolvie, T. Rose, M. Rose, W Rose, M. Will, Bunne. W. Clare, M. Clare, W. Scott, I. Scott, W. Bull, M. concert, Mr Maxwell’s prize for most tickets sold on a trophy was won by Mary Powell; Mr K. Zajonskowsky’s trophy for most concert tickets soid was won by James McTavish; and Mrs Powell’s prizes were won by Avis Teague and Ida Maxwell. A large number of local residents and visitors, testifying to her popularity, were in attendance at the hall on Monday evening when the postmistress, Miss Alice Florence, celebrated her 21st birthday. Ihe party, which was in the nature of a surprise to tho guest of the evening, was spent in games and dancing. Mrs Roy Wood rendered two songs, and Miss Betty Aggett recited. After supper had been served, Mr G. R. McKenzie proposed the health of Miss Florence and expressed much pleasure at the presence of Mr Florence senr. Air McKenzie also highly eulo.fi.sed Miss Florence’s services at the post office. Musical honours were accorded the guest of the evening. Mr McKenzie also presented to Miss Florence, on behalf of the people of tho district, a gold wristlet watch as a memento of the occasion. Air C. Florence, on behalf of his sister, briefly acknowledged Air AlcKenzie’s remarks and thanked all present for the gift. The beautiful birthday cake, which was much admired, was made by Mifis W. Clare and iced by Miss N. Clare. Decorating the cake were 21 kcwpies. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Alary Taylor, of Ohakea, and Air K. Cockburn, of Sanson. Airs Gibbons and Mr Arthur Fre’eklington were tho winners of a eat competition. Among those present were : Alesdames F. Florenco, Teague, J. Scott, P. Scott, J. C. Gibbons, R.
