400-YEAR-OLD BOOK.
FINDS IN FERRARA LIBRARY. Several books printed more than four centuries ago are among the valuable finds made in the Ferrara library during the exploration of some dusty ton shelves untouched since the library ■was founded 200 years ago, states the Rome correspondent of the London Morning Post. No complete inventory had ever been made, and it was only a year ago on the occasion of the Ariosto celebration that the Citv and the Italian Government provided the funds for cataloguing the library’s contents. The result is that some 7000 valuable books and manuscripts have been found, including editions of Ariosto previous to 1500. Also found were 2350 rare old prints; 101 books and manuscripts of the Savonarola period and controversy; 3195 autographs and 2386 manuscripts. Among the latter is a complete collection of the works of Cicero, and it is believed that some manuscripts of ancient classic authors, thought to to have been lost, will also be found in the collection.
