WORK AT RICCARTON. GOLD TRAIL BEATS WALTON PARK. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 1. Conditions were pleasant lor work at Riccarton this morning. The outside of the course proper provided excellent going. Horowlienua and Wee Musk ran seven furlongs in 1.34. Orris beat Chidden ever a mile in 1.43 4-5. Cricket Bat covered a mile in 1.41. Free Air and Red Sun ran a mile and aquarter, the last mile in 1.49. Rocket and Horn’s Reef did a mile in 1.45 2-5.
Fracas ran seven furlongs in 1.34 2-osec. Variant and Hostis did half a miie in 50 and Copyist half a mile along the back in 49 2-5. Streamline and Trumpet Blast ran a mile in 1.47. hibella, assisted by Stability, covered u mile in 1.46 3-5.
Sporting Blood and Mother Superior ran seven furlongs in 1.31, Rebel Star and Marolaa taking 1.31 1-5 Gold Trail easily beat Walton Park over a mile and a quarter in 2.15 3-5, the last mile taking 1.4.6 3-5. Grand Sport covered half a mile in 49 2-5. Pompeii following in 49 3-5. Gas Mask’s six furlongs took 1.20. Aesculus and Chaste covered six furlongs on the plough in 1.19, Sea Pox taking 1.21 2-5.
Smuggler ran a mile and a-quarter in 2.11 3-5,, the last mile, with Signaller, taking 1.43 2-5. Great Star covered nine furlongs, the last mile taking 1.48. Haut Monde beat Desert Chief, with Gay Circle well hack, over half a mile in 49sec. Sam Smith and Southdown easily beat Cleaner and Strong Light over seven furlongs in 1.30 2-5. Cherry Queen easily beat Tizzy over five furlongs in 1.2 3-5. Haere Tonu beat Hostile over five furlongs in 1.3. Silver Streak was a neck in front of Cranford at the end of six furlongs in 1.16.
Tout Le Monde and Masquerader ran five furlongs in 1.3 3-5. Pin Money did a mile in 1.43. Hine Ra beat Marcus Cicero over half a mile in 49sec. Hcratchmero Sear beat Heather Glow, with Palatinate several lengths away over a mile in 1.42 3-5. Grecian Prince did half a mile along the back in 47 l.Ssec. Red Manfred covered a mile and n quarter, the last mile taking 1.43. Penelope, Silver Sail, and Greek Shepherd finished in that order over half a mile in 49see. Master Reynard beat Sky Rover over seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5. Earthquake did a mile in 1.45, Polygram assisting over the last five furlongs in 1.6. Some Shamble and Silver Sight did about a mile and a quarter, the last mile in 1.44 1-5. Quietly joined in for the last seven furlongs. Knockfin took 49 3-ssec along the back. Fair Weather did six furlongs easily in 1.20, Manetho taking 1.21. Hounslow and Jolly Beggar beat Punchestown over a mile in 1.44 3-5. First Course did seven furlongs in 1.32 2-5 and Vintage a mile in 1.41. Silver Step and Tunneller ran six furlongs in 1.18 2-5.
Davolo and Rebel Chief easily beat Golden Dart over seven furlongs in 1.29. Capitol did six furlongs in 1.15 4-5.
Polydora, Ranelagh, Sweet Agnes, and Cough finished as named with gaps between them after a mile and a quarter in 2.8 3-5, the last mile taking 1.42 2-5. Polydora was last in the early stages, but ran past her opponents easily in the straight. F.lbanor ran six furlongs in 1.16 4-5. and Gaysome five furlongs in 1-2 1-5, the last half mile taking 49sec. Cheap Money and First View ran seven furlongs'in 1.34 2-5 and Gold Cross and Wise Choice six furlongs in 1.17 3-5. Jerry Boy jumped the brush hurdles well. Gold Knight ran off the track when first tried over the brush hurdles, but was all right when Monastic ioined him. Southern arrivals include Palermo, Nightform, Red Boa, Silver Coat, Hunting Go, Top Coat, and Kinnouli, while Princess Doreen, Synagogue, Might, and Semper Paratus arrived from the north this morning. PRINCESS DOREEN SCRATCHED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. Nov. 1. Princess Doreen was scratched for the Riccarton Handicap at 9.30 a.in.
