FEILDING POSTMASTER.

NEW APPOINTMENT.

Mr J. 13. Purcell, of the Wellington South Post Office, has been appointed postmaster at Feilding, vice Mr C. Clark, who leaves for Whangarei on Tuesday. Mr Purcell will take up his new duties in about two weeks’ time.

MUNICIPAL BAND

COMMITTEE MEETING. Mr T. Collins presided at a meeting of the management committee of the Feilding Municipal Band on Thursday night. Afatters in connection with the forthcoming visit of the Wanganui Garrison Band were referred to when a letter was received from the band giving details of the arrangements for the visit to Feilding on November 4. The committee agreed to assist the Wanganui Band at an open-air programme on Johnston Park in the afternoon and in the evening a programme will be given by the visiting band and Wanganui entertainers. The debit balance of the band was reported to be £65 14s 7d. To augment the funds of the band it was decided to hold a. community sing in December to coincide with the drawing of a raffle. The committee extended its congratulations to the members of the band who had made such a creditable showing at the recent solo contest. Messrs Collins and 0. Sporle were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
