DATE OF NEXT ELECTION.
MINISTER HAS NO INFORMATION. WELLINGTON, Oct. 27. When the Supplementary Estimates were under discussion in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr R. A. Wright asked ‘ the Minister of Finance (Rt. Hon.. J. G. Coates) if he could give any information as to whether the electoral rolls had been brought up to date, whether the ballot papers had been printed, and when an election would be held. Mr Coates said he was sorry he could not answer any of the questions, because he was in complete ignorance. Mr J. A. Nash : The new party would know. Mr Coates: I don’t know whether the rolls have been brought ini to date, T don’t know whether the ballot papers have been printed, and I don’t know when an election will be held.
Mr J. O’Brien: This year, next year, some time, never.
Mr Coates smilingly remarked that nobody could tell wliat was going to happen. Tt was pretty difficult to fix a date that would suit members. (Laughter.)
