ALL SAINTS’ MEN’S CLUB.

There was a large attendance of members at Wednesday’s gathering of the All Sa.ints’ Men’s Club. The president (Rev. Canon Woodward) was in charge of the gathering. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mr J. L. Harwood, who had suffered a loss by the death of his sister in the South Island.

Visitors present included Rev. H. B. Goertz, vicar of Ashhurst and Mr S. Booth, of Dover, England. The programme arranged by the president consisted of songs, choruses and humor, ons items by Messrs J. H. Runnicles, W. G. Ta.bor and S. W. Oliver. Mr Goertz gave a highly interesting and amusing talk on bis first 24 hours on a windjammer, when, as a lad of 15, lie entered upon a seafaring life. A test on general knowledge by means of 20 questions was won by Mr Allan Hunt. Mr Booth acknowledged the warm welcome in happy vein, a.nd gave a humorous anecdote on Metropolitan Police life. The members were the guests of Canon and Mrs Woodward at supper in the vicarage. Mr J. T. Bosworth (vice-president) voiced the thanks of the club for the pleasant evening accorded the members. The rendering of musical honours to the host and hostess closed a happy function.
