RURAL RAKINGS.

A shipmentof three mares and a colt from four famous Clydesdale studs in Lanarkshire, Scotland, arrived at Dunedin by the Waiwcra. The horses, which represent some of the best breeding ever imported into New Zealand, will go to a South Island stud. Tho Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received tho following advice front its London office under date October 24: —Tallow: There is only a poor demand. Current quotations: Good mutton, 21n to 2.1 s 6d per cwt.; good beef, 20s fid to 21s; good mixed, 20s 6d to 21s; gut, 16s 6d to 18s 6d. A meeting of over 100 farmers of Hclensvillo and surrounding districts. was held to consider the Dairy Commission’s report. Resentment was expressed at tho Government’s policy of rush legislation, and after a lengthy discussion it was unanimously resolved that, as there is no immediate relief arising from the recommendation in the report, the Government bo asked to suspend all legislation arising therefrom during the present session, so as to givo tho dairy industry time to consider tho Commission’s recommendations. The resolution has been telegraphed to the. Prime Minister, tho member for the district, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr M. J. Savage.
