MARKET DULL.
Lamb is par to id lower; wethers, Id to id lower; ewes, id lower; beef, no change. Lamb, market dull, sales difficult ; wethers and owes, market weak, littlo or no demand; tho Americans arc offering wethers, owes and lambs at lower prices and pushing sales. The foregoing cabled report was received by M. A. Eliott, Ltd., from Gordon, Woodroffo and Co., Ltd., London. Tho following arc Smithfield prices for the week ending October 25, 1934 (these are on tho “delivered” basis, that is, including storage charges, cartage, etc.) :—Best North Island pnmo lambs, under 36 7d, 36-42 6id, 42-50 ssd; ordinary North Island lambs, under 42 6(d, second quality under 42 6d; best North Island wethers and/or maiden ewes, 48-56 and 56-64 4id, 64-72 and over 72 4|d; ordinary North Island wethors and/or maiden ewes, 48-56 and 56-64 4jd, 64-72 and over 72 4fd; North Island ewes, under 64 3id, 64-72 and over 72 2Jd; New Zealand prime ox beef (equal fores and hinds), 160-220 2|d. DAIRY PRODUCE. BOTH MARKETS FIRM. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., report, dated London, October 24: —Both markets firm. Butter: Danish, 116 s. New Zealand, finest, 69s to 71s. Kangaroo, finest. 69s to 70s. Cheese: Now Zealand white, 525; coloured, 50s. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Coy., Ltd., have received the following advice from their London house, dated October 24:—Dairy produce (last week’s quotations in parentheses) : Butter New Zealand choicest salted, 68s to 70s per cwt (655). Market firm. Cheese, white, 51s per cwt (48s to 48s 6d); coloured, 50s per cwt (48s to 48s 6d). Market steady. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. SYDNEY, Oct. 25. _ Wheat at country sidings, bagged, is 2s Id a bushel; bulk, 2s equal to 2s 8d to 2s Bjd ex trucks, Sydney. Flour, £8 5s a ton. Bran, £5 a ton. Pollard, £5 5s a ton. Potatoes: Tasmanian, £l4 a ton ; Victorian, £l2. Onions : Victorian, £9 a ton. Maize, yellow and white, 3s 3d a bushel. ADELAIDE, Oct. 25. Wheat, growers’ lots is 2s 8d to 2s Bjd a bushel. Flour, bakers’ lots, £8 5s a ton. Bran and pollard, £5 5s a ton. Oats, Algerian, 2s 3d a bushel. Barley, 2s 6d to 2s lOd a bushel. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. A HARDENING TENDENCY. SYDNEY, Oct. 25. At the wool sales to-day 10,910 bales were offered, of which 10,078 were sold at auction; 1462 bales being sold privately. There was keen and general competition for stylish wools showing character and quality, and the improvement in prices noted yesterday was more accentuated. Greasy Merino made to 17d for nine bales from Boorowa.
