PERSONAL.

Captain I. M. Moffatt-Pender, Mrs Moffat-Pender, Mr Douglas W. Hattrick, and Mr Thomas Faulds, members of the Australian curling team who visited Central Otago, left Wellington to-day on their return to Australia.

Mr C. H. L. Palmer, of Wellington, is at present on a visit to Longburn where he resided until tome seven years ago. Mr Palmer, who is accompanied by Mrs Palmer, was present at last night’s annual ball of the Longburn School, of which he was a former chairman, having occupied that office at the time when the area on which the school stands was prepared by the united effort of the residents.

Mr H. T. B. Drew, publicity officer on the staff of the High Commissioner in London, was, at a recent installation meeting of the New Zealand Masonic Lodge in London, instituted as Master. The ceremony was performed by Bro. A. E. Porritt (Senior Warden), while the installation Master was Wor. Bro. C. J. Wray. Mr Drew is a brother of Mr A. K. Drew, county clerk, Sandon. Dom Moreno, who has been a hospital patient at Auckland for the past month, has been advised for health reasons to leave New Zealand, and is to return to Australia next Monday by the Aorangi. He arrived in New Zealand several months ago to conduct and instruct massed Catholic choirs. In the past few weeks he has been in the habit of leaving his sick bed to conduct choirs, returning immediately afterward. One of his works was sung and played at the Eucharistic Congress a.t Sydney.
