(from Our Own Correspondent.) . COLYTON, Aug 3. If spontaneity of applause is to be taken ns a criterion, the combined hockey clubs’ concert on Thursday evening was one of the most successful functions of the year. There was a large attendance end every | item was received in an appreciative manI nor. Items were contributed by artists from ihe surrounding districts, including Feilding, Cheltenham, and Aorangi, as well as local talent, and after the concert, the ladies of t ho hockey. club provided supper. Dancing was then indulged in to music supplied by Mr A. Feeney. The following programme was presented :—ltem by Harmonica Band (Mr A. Fccnev, conductor) ; song, Mr Stevens; song‘and ballet, members of the Colyton Women’s Institute; song. Master 11. Raikcs; selection on onestringed violin, Mr Simmonds; chorus and haka, Messrs Dune Bros. During the interval following this item community singing led by Mr Curtis of Fcilding, was much enjoyed, the audience joining heartily in many well-known choruses. When the curtain again lifted, it was for a very entertaining playette, presented by members of (he Cheltenham Women’s Institute. This was much enjoyed and was followed by another* exceptionally good item by the Harmonica Band. Instrumental items by Messrs Dune Bros and vocal duets by Miss Juno and Master W. I Raikcs received well merited applause, and concluded, an interesting programme. On Monday evening a meeting is to be I held of residents and old pupils to' make further arrangements for the forthcoming school jubilee.
