AIANAAVATU OPEN CHAAIPIONSHIPS. D. Hayvicc ,01111 K. Longmore, both of Wellington, were the finalists in the men’s championship singles of the Alanawatu Table Tennis Association’s A grade tournament, held in the Hokowhitu Hall last evening. Hayvicc proved the winner after a. five-set match characterised by splendid and consistent driving. Both players employed topspin and chop shots to advantage. The scores were 31—22, 28— 31, 31—24, 30—31, 31—28. Partnered in the doubles, they were successful in annexing the final honours, G. and R. Tapp (Palmerston North) being the runners-up. The entries greatly exceeded those of previous years, Auckland and surrounding clubs being represented.
