PRESBYTERY OF WANGANUI.
CALL BY ST. ANDREW’S CONGREGATION.
The Presbytery of Wanganui met in St. Andrew’s Memorial Hall this morning, Rev. C. R. Watt, of Turakina, presiding over a representative attendance. The meeting was opened with Scripture reading and prayer. _ Rev. J. S. Pate apologised for his unavoidable absence. Rev. D. Mclvor, of Marton, described the reason for calling the meeting. which was to deal with the call by St. Andrew’s to Rev. J. R. Hubbard, M.A., 8.D., of Kelburn, Wellington. Rev. J. Paterson, hi.A., of Wanganui, then laid on the table the signed call. He said he was extremely glad to do so as moderator of the charge. He would like to say that the selection committee were unanimous, and also the congregation. It was a .matter of satisfaction to know that the choice had fallen on one of our own New Zealand-born ministers. Mr W. B. Tennent stressed the fact that St. Andrew’s were a unanimous congregation, and he supported the call as a member of the session. A spirit of enthusiasm prevailed among members and already the ladies had formed a large and representative visiting committee whose activities were already showing results. • Mr J. C. Young, in speaking to the call, expressed satisfaction that the call, which was, according to Church law, purely voluntary, showed over d) per cent, signatures of members. He sincerely hoped the Wellington Presbytery at its next meeting would fuither the call with their support. Mr Paterson then moved : that tins Presbytery sustain the call and forward it to the Wellington Presbytery, Rev. J. Paterson and Mr W. B. iennent to prosecute the call. This was agreed to. ~ , £ A vote of thanks to the ladies for providing a dainty morning tea was voiced by members. The meeting closed with the Benediction.
