The hard-court tennis tournament was continued at Bournemouth to-day, when the quarter-finals of the singles were entered. The details are as follow :
MEN’S SINGLES. Quarter-Finals. Crawford beat Boussus, I—6, 6—4, I—6, 6—2, 6—4. Kirby beat McGrath, 6—4, 6—l, 6—l. Perry heat Miki, 6—2, 6—l, 6—2. WOMEN’S SINGLES. Fourth Round. Mrs Round beat Mrs Whittingstall, 3—6, 6—4, 6—3. Miss Stammers beat Miss Dearman, 7—9, 7—5, 6—2. MEN’S DOUBLES 1 . Third Round. Perrv and Lee beat Kirby and Miki, 6—2, 6—4, 2—6, 4—6, 6—3. Boussus and Merlin beat Misliimura and Kamagislii, 7—5, 6 —4, 6—2. WOMEN’S DOUBLES. Second Round. Misses Crichton and Hobson beat Mrs Moleswortli and Miss Hartigan, 6—2, 4—6, 6—2. MIXED DOUBLES. Second Round. Stedman and Miss McAlpine beat Kirby and Miss Heeley, 2—6, 7—5, 6—3. Malfroy and Miss Stammers heat Peters and Mrs Peters, B—6, 6—3. Sharpe and Miss Dear man beat Hopman and Mrs Hopman, B—o, 3—6, 6—3. McGrath never settled down against Kirby’s top-spin drives. McGrath’s backhand was bad. Kirby said he never played better. Everything went right. Boussus was very steady against Crawford, hut the Australian was superior in the last two sets.
