RANGITIKEI.

MARTON, April 16. The Marton Harrier Club held the first run of the season on Saturday afternoon, when 11 members took part in a short whistle run. The field was controlled by the captain (G. Robertson). A stroke competition was played on the Marton golf links on Saturday, the best cards being returned by F. J. Christensen, 71—5—66; C. Cochran, 80 —14—66; F. D. Christensen, 86—20 66; C. M. Holdnway, 77—11—66. The season was brought to a close on the Marton Lawn Tennis Club’s courts on Saturday, when trophies were presented. There was a fair attendance of members who spent an enjoyable afternoon. Much interest centred round the final for the Gibbons Rose Bowl, presented for the mixed handicap doubles annual competition this year by Mr S. J. Gibbons. The first holders, who also received a miniature apiece, are A. W. Low and Miss B. Cochran ('•—ls), who -“defeated R. Bridge and Miss B. Staples (x 26) 6—4, 5—6, 6—3.
