GLEN OROUA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) GLEX OROUA, April 17. The annual meeting of householders for the election of a school committee, which on this occasion will hold office for two years, was held in the schoolroom _ last night. Mr TV. A. Boswell, the retiring chairman, presided over an attendance of twelve, three more than were present last year. The report and balance-sheet, previously published in the “Standard,” was read and adopted. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr D. H. Ihle, who has audited the accounts for tho past five years. Votes of thanks to the teachers for the highly efficient manner in which school activities were conducted, and to the retiring committee for their organisation of sports and their keen interest in the welfare of the children were carried by r acclamation on the motion of Mr TV. B. Croad. Mr Boswell returned thanks on behalf of the outgoing committee and Mr Parlane responded for the teachers. It was unanimously decided to approach the Education Board regarding the provision of emergency exits from the classrooms. It was considered that the school chimneys constituted a danger in the event of it being necessary to clear the rooms during an earthquake such as that recently experienced. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing term: Messrs 11. M. Carter, TV. H. Foster, P. H. Farland, J. Herdman and F. Webb. Messrs TV. A. Boswell and TV. G. Scott did not seek re-election, and were thanked for their services. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr Farland was elected chairman, while Mr Herdman was re-elected secretary.
