MEETING AT AUCKLAND.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 12

Delegates to the Justices of the Peace Federation were to-day welcomed at the opening of the eighth annual conference which continues till Thursday. Mr Arthur Rosser (vice-president) apologised for the absence of Mr W. N. Stirling, of Invercargill. The Mayor (Mr G. W. Hutchison) spoke and Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates paid a warm tribute to justices’ helpful work in the interests of the Dominion. There were 6300 justices, 96 being women. The latter were effectively carrying out much work of which the men had been pleased to be relieved. The election of officers resulted as follows -.—President, _ Mr A. Rosser (Auckland); vice-president, Mr J. W. Dove (Otago) ; . registrar and treasurer, Mr A. J. Stratford (Auckland). It was decided to hold the next conference at Dunedin.
