THE WINOOKA PARTY.

RETURN TO AUSTRALIA. comments ON TRIP. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 1. M. Poison, E. Britt and Mr R. T. Naylor, trainer, jockey and manager of the racehorse Winooka, passed through Auckland by the Mariposa today on their return to Sydney. They declared their intention of going back to the United States, perhaps in February, for racing Wiuooka there in April and May. They are probably taking him to England to race, but meanwhile Winooka remains in America. They said the horse had four wins in seven races and wen £2750, and but for the high exchange rate the trip would have been profitable. Mr Naylor emphatically said it was useless to take any but a first-class horse to America, where there were some great horses. Equipoise, lie said, was “a horse and a half” and the equal of Pliar Lap. Mr Naylor also said that racing in the States was in a bad way. There was tremendous unemployment and many people were simply unable to pay the admission charge and free tickets could be had for the asking.
