FOXTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) . FOXTON, Sept. 19. Inspector Crosbie, of the Wanganui Education Beard, is visiting the Foxton District High School. Mr T. Saunders, of Glen Oroua, has returned to his homo from a private hospital in Palmerston North. At a special meeting of the Foxton Borough Council, a letter was read from Mr D. Turkington, of Dannevirkc, tlio newly appointed gas manager, in which he stated that he did not dcsiro to accept the position if he had to relievo the stroker every second Sunday, and also requesting an increase in pay in the event of his accepting the position and reduced the unaccounted for gas and increased the make per ton. It was decided that tho Mayor and town clerk should take advice on the position that had developed. The third round for the men’s handicap match for the golf cup was completed during the week-end and resulted:—Thomas beat Newton, Thompson beat R. Pedersen, Wilson beat Robinson, Purcell beat Bryant, Baird beat C. \V. Pedersen, Gavin beat Borgia. The following will represent tho club against Palmerston North at Foxton on Saturday:—Wilson, Macpherson, Bergin, Bryant, Gavin, Petersen, Easton, Newton, Ogilvy, C. W. Pedersen, R. Pedersen, B. Pedersen, Robinson, Thomas, Thompson, Trueman, Baird.
