SANDON, Dec. 14.
A delightful coming-of-age party was given in the hall on Monday night by Mr and Mis T. Murphy in honour of their daughter Monica. Airs Murphy received the guests in-a becoming gown of black figured georgette. Miss Monica Murphy wore shell pink georgette and black lace. The hall looked gay with rainbow streamers and large bowls of roses. Excellent music for the dancing was played by Mr V. Wallis, of Fcilding. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs W. E. Pearce and Mr J. Corbett, and a spot waltz by Mr and Airs J. Corbett. Between the dances items were contributed by Air A. Pedersen, Miss Lorna Robinson, Mr J. Currie, Mrs I. Edwards, Miss Rona Dwyer, Messrs N. and N. Fagan, and Miss A. Bracken. A dainty supper was served. The centre of attraction was the birthday cake, which had been beautifully iced by Mrs C. Lawrence. The usual toasts were honoured. That of Miss Murphy was proposed by Mr Wahlstrom, of Wanganui, who presented the guest with a key.. Mr I*. Murphy replied on behalf of his sister. Mr A. K. Drew, in proposing the toast of Mr and Mrs Murphy, said that they were both ever ready to assist with any community work. Mr Murphy suitably responded. The toast of the grand-parents was proposed by Mr Benefield, of Wanganui, and Mr J. Spooner, of Wanganui, who was (he only grand-parent present.
