NAVAL COURT-MARTIAL

PETTY OFFICER DISRATED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. The trial by court-martial of Samuel George Adams, supply petty officer of H.M.S. Laburnum, concluded to-day. The Court found that the charges of improperly leaving the ship and neglecting to keep properly the supply and provision lists were proved. The charge of failing to hand over to the accounting officer part of the £IOB 10s 7d received for clothing, tobacco, etc., was partly proved in that accused failed to deliver £l3 19s lid, and the charge of fraudulently converting £l7 10s 6d was not proved. Accused was acquitted on the fourth charge. On the others he was ordered to be kept in detention for 30 days and to forfeit two days’ pay. The sentence results in accused being disrated from supply petty officer to supply assistant, and he also loses his good conduct stripes.
