Per Press' Association. NEW PLYMOUTH Sept. 28. “The inspector has tied my hands by asking for leniency, but if the facts were fully investigated someone would go to gaol,” said the Magistrate, Mr It. W. Tate, when inflicting a line of £2 and costs £3 4s on Albert William Parker, who admitted failure to supply. 17 cows with sufficient food.
Counsel for the S.P.C.A. said it was a serious matter as, of 31 cows on the farm, 14 had died allegedly from starvation. The cattle were in a deplorable condition. There were circumstances in connection with the management of the farm which caused the inspector to ask for leniency.
