MANAWATU DISTRICT CLUBS. CONFERENCE REMITS DISCUSSED Representatives of the Dannevirke, Pahiatua, Feilding, Palmerston North, Shannon and Tokomaru Angling Clubs met this week, as the guests of the Woodvill© Angling Club, m order to discuss remits for the Acclimatisation Societies’ Conference. Ebbett and Mr D. Ross took the honours of the fly competition, lye heaviest fish went to Mr Cullen with 7llbs. The next toast was that of the visitors, which was responded to hy Messrs P. P. Stevens (Feilding), E. Ward (Palmerston North), S. Welsh (Dannevinke), R. Taylor (Pahiatua), and H. G. Leng-Ward (Shannon) Mr Cullen proposed the health of the Acclimatisation Society and the reply was made by Mr Picard. A suggestion that the Stockwell Cup competition should be revised met with opposition from Mr Chimery (Pahiatua) and Mr Stockwell pointed out that, whilst lie realised the impossibility of getting away big teams, it was the intention of the donor to use the cup as a means of getting anglers together and suggested that the 1 minimum he left at four, but if possible more members take part. Other toasts honoured were: “The Secretary” (Mr Horne), proposed hy Mr C. Mackie; “The Ladies,” Mr R. F. Mackie—Mr Beattie; “Mr Widzell” (the father of the gathering), Mr Anderson; ‘Woodville Club,” “The President” and “The Press.”
