PIG BREEDERS.
MAN AW ATU-OR OU A BRANCH’S MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Mana-watu-Oroua branch of the Now Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association was held to-day, Mr H. E. Thurston presiding. Also present were Messrs Fieldhouse, Smith, Ellerm, Gloyn, Hazelhurst, Stevens, Bickers, Dear, Andrews, Lovelock, Croucher, Russell and Knudsen. There was an apology for Mr Montgomery’s absence. Tho secretary intimated that ho hoped to have the Tamworth and Berkshire cups available at tho next meeting. Mr Stevens reported that the subcommittee on pig recording had decided to approach the department for a subsidy similar to that granted to tho Waikato Pig Recording Club. Mr Russell said that if the Meat Board gave no decision, a deputation could be sent to the Government. Ho suggested the sotting up of a committee. There was a general discussion on the subject and it was decided that the committee appointed at the last meeting, with Mr Lovelock, consider tho position and have power to take any steps thought desirable. Mr Croucher was appointed recording secretary. Mr Croucher and Mr Nielsen wero appointed to make arrangements for an assistant secretary to tho branch. Mr Croucher advised that the Feilding Show committee had decided to include in its schedule sections for male and female Large Blacks. It was decided that the Tamwci'th and Berkshire cups be offered at the Levin, Marton, Dannevirke, Feilding and Palmerston North Shows for competition, the matter to be reviewed next year.
