REPAYMENT OF DEBTS.
ACTION BY BRITAIN. LONDON, Aug. 25. The French Press in chorus praise Britain’s achievement in repaying 900,000,000 niillion francs to France and 50,000,000 dollars to the United States for liquidating loans arranged in the sterling crisis in 1931. The purchases of francs and dollars for this transaction explain the recent slump in the pound, but experts express the opinion that there will be an immediate strengthening of British credit and incidentally of world confidence.
