GOLF IN AUSTRALIA.
AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
ADELAIDE, Aug. 25.
In the amateur golf championships final to-day Bettington beat Williams 3 and 1. It was a dramatic match. Bettington was 3 down at the twelfth, hut won the next six. Ho was 3 up at the seventh. His scores for the final six holes were: 2,3, 3,5, 2, 5. 4\ illiams gave an exhibition of dazzling putting in the morning. McMahon heat G. Naismith by 7 and 6. McMahon’s play on the putting greens was far superior to that of his opponent. In the second round of the women s championship, Miss Wray, who returned a card of 82, was first, and Miss Bnsi n Tolhurst was second with 84. Scores for the first two rounds aro: Aliss Tolhurst, 168; Miss Wray, 173; Miss McLeod, 177; Miss Lefevro, 1 ( 8; Miss Rymill 178; Miss Russell, 1/8.
