GLEN OROUA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) GLEN OROUA, May 17. The usual monthly meeting of the school committeo was held in tho schoolroom last night. Those present wore Messrs W. A. Boswell (chairman), W. C. Scott (secretary), P. H. Farland, J. Herdman and S. G. Parlano (head teacher). Mr J. F. Nolan was unable to bo present owing to being in hospital. Thero was no correspondence to consider and an account for 15s was passed for payment. It was docided to obtain two cords of firewood for school use. The matter of repairing tho small iron nates in front of the school and tho teacher’s rcsidenco was loft in tho hands of the secretary. Tho head teacher reported that thero was a broken window in the infants’ room, and was authorised to obtain a now pane of glass. Several small items were required in connection with tho school first aid cabinet, and tho head teacher was given authority to obtain anything necessary. Arrangements wore mode for the final inspection and judging of the boys’ and girls’ club mangel plots. Tho judging will commence on Monday next at 10 a.m., the secretary and tho head teacher agreeing to use their cars for the transport of officials and competitors. Mrs H. J. Kirkham, of Napier, who has boon spending a short holiday with Mr and Mrs Parlano, left on her return to Napier to-day. Mrs L. H. Ihlo is sponding a few days in Palmorston North. Residents of the district will bo pleased to learn that Mr J. Boyce, who_ has been indisposed, is getting about again.
