FARMER SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES

Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Jan. 4. James Olds, aged 59, a farmer, of Te Awamutu, who was ndmitted to the Waikato Hospital on Wednesday suffering from serious head injuries sustained through falling from a horse, succumbed to his injuries this afternoon.

DEATH OF MOTORIST. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Jan. 4. It was reported to the police this morning that a car, upside-down, was lying in a lagoon about a mile on the Port Chalmers side of St. Leonards. On the arrival of the police at the spot the car was righted, and it was found that the body of a man, since identified as that of John Charles Styche, was inside. Rigor mortis had set in and the man had evidently been dead for a number of hours. Mr Styche was aged 22, and boarded in South Dunedin. His parents reside at Port Chalmers.

INVOLVED ACCIDENT

MOTOR CYCLES AND CAR

WELLINGTON, Jan. 5. Two motor-cycles, each with a pillion rider, collided with a motor car which was emerging from the Tawa Flat recreation ground at 4.30 j>.m. yesterday. Of the four people besides the motorist who were concerned in the smash, three were taken to Wellington Hospital. No one was injured severely. Morris Raymond Adcock, of Kilbirnie, was riding his motor-cycle toward Wellington with Miss Iris Clark, on the pillion seat. As he approached the recreation ground at Tawa Flat a car was being driven out of the ground by Mr Ralston, of Tawa Flat. Adcock’s- machine came into collision with the car, and both he and his passenger were -thrown heavily. Another motor-cycle which was travelling behind Adcock reached tho car and also collided with it. The second motor-cycle was driven by Charles Little, whose passenger was Miss Phyllis Swiney. They also fell heavily. Little suffered injuries to his right leg, Miss Clark injuries to her left leg, and Miss Swiney abrasions to her face. All three were affected by shock.
