THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. A very intense low-pressure wave crossed the Dominion during Saturday night and another almost equally intense one is advancing over the Tasman Sea. North-westerly to westerly winds, strong to gale force, backing to south-westerlies shortly in the south and later south-westerlies becoming general. Seas generally rough to heavy in New Zealand waters. Strong west to south-west winds to gales in the eastern Tasman Sea, with heavy sea. Weather squally and changeable with intermittent rain in most districts, and some heavy falls in the western. Thunder at places. Temperatures warm, especially on the East Coast, but becoming cooler generally during Monday. DISTRICT REPORT. SQUALLY AND CHANGEABLE. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale and backing by west to south. The weather will probably prove squally and changeable, with showers at times. The barometer is unsteady, but has a rising tendency.
